My son would use the word SNAFU ..... I didn't know it is an acronym. He's say 'Just Snafu'd the tea' ..... he sometimes rings me after work whilst he is preparing their evening meal.

Lower case it generally means 'made a mess' or 'utter confusion or chaos ' (which is what your lad would mean) 😊
