A spectacular event is occuring on Friday 20th March 2015

The UK will experience a near-total solar eclipse which is due to block out the light of the sun in Britain, leaving parts of the UK shrouded in 99% darkness on Friday.

Although total eclipses can be seen somewhere on Earth every year or so, they are rarely seen in Europe. The eclipse this week,  will be the first in Britain in this century.

It will start approximately 8am on Friday morning.....

Many events to celebrate this event are due to take place acoss the UK...

Also many warnings being issued re protecting eyesight ....

Yeah, I think I caught solar flares. Ran the image through some adjustments and happy with the end result.

Strange that even now it's warmer and brighter that there is still a distinct lack of bird activity around here.

Just got back to this now...and pleased that all birdsong appears to have resumed. My cats are still laying quite still.... for them....(they didn't like it one bit) wink
