A spectacular event is occuring on Friday 20th March 2015

The UK will experience a near-total solar eclipse which is due to block out the light of the sun in Britain, leaving parts of the UK shrouded in 99% darkness on Friday.

Although total eclipses can be seen somewhere on Earth every year or so, they are rarely seen in Europe. The eclipse this week,  will be the first in Britain in this century.

It will start approximately 8am on Friday morning.....

Many events to celebrate this event are due to take place acoss the UK...

Also many warnings being issued re protecting eyesight ....

The top section of the sun will be covered and the further north you are, the more that will be covered. Where I am is expected to be 95% eclipsed.

Very little need for that......cloud cover will be so dense that we won't even notice the partial eclipse
