One thing I have noticed whilst scanning the TV channels.... it's back on again today....
No channel has the monopoly then? (BBC yesterday... ITV today)

And...because I really do want an answer to this question....why the SIX nations?.. Add to that ...why are France and Italy included and why only those two?

It used to be the home nations then they added France and later Italy.
It's pretty much the European major teams and the winners are thought of as European champions.

As you have noticed @Cleoriff it is on again today I watched both yesterday and have a few round ball games to watch as well down the pub.
