No disgrace in losing that game, Modric was brilliant again, and Croatia were the better side tonight.

Modric was brilliant...doesn't alter the fact after the first goal we coasted and had 3 -4 chances to score and couldn't.

Anyway off to water the garden while the TV pundits discuss where it all went wrong. (again)

Sure thing, we can be proud of their achievement this last 4 weeks but experience won the day tonight.

Yep, 2nd half showed what was missing and what Croatia took advantage of. The midfield went missing and nobody stood up and took charge allowing Modric & Co to do what they do best. Harry Kane ended up being relatively anonymous because of that (why play him so deep as he is more effective in the box?) and made Sterling so isolated he might as well gone shopping. Man City might be though....

Can't really complain about the England defenders as the first goal was coming. 2nd goal was a team failure but saying that, they have nothing to be ashamed of as they have proved to be a team capable of doing things in the future.

Its going to take something special from Croatia to beat France on Sunday.

I didn't watch most of normal time, but you could see the fitness levels were much higher in the Croatian team.
The second goal was partly down to the tiredness, more mentally than physically perhaps, but Maguire didn't let Stones know that Mandzukic was behind him. I think if he had given him a shout earlier then Stones might have been able to prevent it (armchair expert here).

As expected, this morning we are inundated with TV 'pundits' telling us where it all went wrong and what England should've done.

Then adding the wonderful but 'they did us proud' and 'they should hold their heads up high'

No. They could have won but they didn't.

Move on and get over it!!

I’m not sure how motivated players are to be involved a third place playoff, but they would have taken it at the start of this tournament. Not bad for a team that’s actually building for the next World Cup.

Unfortunately the media have been building up their chances in recent days, and the public have allowed themselves to get carried away. But when you consider the kind of development that saw a young German team finally lift the trophy (they’re back to rebuilding again), then it could be an exciting future for the squad that Gareth Southgate has put together.

I agree it could be exciting for the future @Anonymous,

Sadly we were consumed with the idea it could be now

From the all aspects of the media, TV programes, Radio, Street parties , pubs and clubs. It was in our minds whether we wanted it there or not.

I have watched all cup finals...and well before the glorious 1966 win. All with the same hype and disappointment.

What makes me really mad with this one, is that we could and should have won.

The chances we missed in the first half were abysmal. Croatia only turned up to the party in the 2nd half and boy did they give us a lesson I hope we never forget.
