Hi all.

Encouraged by 2 fab community members to create this new topic. Hope you like.
Thought this could be a nice space to share some of the poems we have written and inspire each other with our creativity. Poems are a way for me to voice whats going on in my head especially when my anxiety has left me feeling somewhat foggy headed.

Hope you enjoy reading and sharing your work.

Pennywren 😊

Morning thoughts

Sun hits the trees,
Making them to glow.
Curled up coffee in hand,
The gentle hum of the washing machine
As I stare into space lost in the past.
Memories eddy and flow.
The good, the bad,
Shifting like sand…
Just out of reach,
Trickling through my fingers.
A blackbird singing in the tree
Are you singing just for me?
Singing of warmth,
Family and happiness.
Something stirs in my mind,
A flash of sunlight across a field,
Laughter, muddy boots,
A trickling brook.
Pebbles smoothed in the water flow,
In my mind my small hand gathers my latest treasure.
A collection of pebbles.
Maybe time can smooth,
Can heal my broken parts,
To leave a polished stone,
Smooth and unbroken.

Lovely poem @Mi-Amigo really enjoyed reading it.

The last one you posted @Pennywren was also lovely. So pleased this thread was started. I'm no poet but  really enjoy reading them.

Thank you @Pennywren and @Cleoriff for your kind words about my poem.

To me, it doesn`t matter whether the lines rhyme or not but what the poem creates in the mind of the reader.

I liked @Pennywren `s "Morning Thoughts" and the images in it, particularly liked the lines...

A blackbird singing in the tree
Are you singing just for me?

I`m sure we have all had such a moment but to put into words to capture it is pure genius.

Bah Humbug

The hands of the clock inside my mind

Run backwards to days long past

And the voice inside my head repeatedly asks

"Why can`t today be like my yesterdays?"

When the sun always shone and I was never cold.

Bah humbug! I hate being old.

Mi-Amigo how lovely to read your poems. I love the words you paint with your words.l

Snow

Sunlight catches the fallen snow,
Casting diamonds,
Of brilliant light.
Snow covers everything,
As far as I can see,
A blanket of white.
Each flake that fell,
Each special, unique.
Brave the cold,
A brisk walk as snow crunches under foot,
Snow gathering on heavy boot.
Enjoy the beauty,
The slate wiped clean.
See how the frost and ice does gleam.
Hush, whats that sound?
Birdsong in the tree,
Flowers peaking out of the ground.
Spring is nearly here.
A time of new starts
Warmth in my heart.
The ice begins to crack.

Lovely poems from you both @Pennywren and @Mi-Amigo

Glad you started this thread @Pennywren

I am no poet but do appreciate poety and am a regular listener to 'Poetry Please' BBC Radio Four late Saturday evening. The present series, presented by Roger McGough, has just come to a close last week, but can be found on BBC Sounds.

Thank you @Anonymous. Am slowly working through the poems I have written. Some I'm reluctant to post because they are darker, memories stirring causing the words to be less pleasant (no foul language just paints a darker picture).

Summer rain

As the rain taps against the window
I reach for my crafting tools
The summer sunshine etched in my heart.

Together with the rain my creations flow
That swirl and eddy lifting the soul
To greater heights.

The holiday time is upon us
A time of laughter and smiles
But in my heart with crafting
The sunshine never fades

The Limerick's poetical form's spurned

Many have striven, less have learned

To rhyme two couplets

With furry puplets

And find they've just crashed and burned!

A thread for poems, how sublime!

Write in stanzas, make'em rhyme,

Each one a ditty,

Oh what a pity

This one I wrote in double-quick time!

Love that one @pgn 😄 flows beautifully

Im worried about posting them all @Cleoriff because I don't know if the words may upset someone. Yes writing them helps but I don't want to cause undue pain or strain on someone else's mental health.
