In today's society, anything and everything is classed as 'news'
A 'celeb' is pregnant or getting a divorce and it is front page news.
It annoys me when important stories, such as tragedies, are shoved to the 4th and 5th pages of a newspaper, yet a celeb gorging on a greasy burger and ignoring their diet is regarded as 'breaking news'
There are loads of magazines out there that can print celeb news so why can't that type of news be kept in the magazines and put just the real news in newspapers?

That is true. I am lucky enough to have family to spend time with...and thoroughly enjoyed it. My two boys went all out to spoil me and their dad....and great to be with the grandchildren.
Certainly since they now have children of their own, they drink less at Christmas time...Having said that.. we all had a happy and quite merry time ....
Of course in my past life as a nurse I have seen far too much damage done over the holiday period which is due to alcohol ...

Christmas and Families do bring out the best in some people - as you will see here

Well I suppose it takes all sorts to make a world as they say. Isn't there a wee poem along the lines of:-
There's a little good in the worst of us
And a little bad in the best of us
So it ill behoves any of us
To criticise the rest of us.
I have to agree that those who for one reason or another do not have the benefit and comfort of a loving and supportive family circle miss out on a lot of the finer things life can provide.

Not a world where people screw each other over at the first opportunity. These days it is all about the money and what people can get whilst giving little in return.
That said, the news tells us broadly about what is bad. But there is so much good in the world that goes unreported. We must focus on that.
Agreed.
Unfortunately we're probably in the minority mate !

Like the poem @Anonymous
I was raised to talk / interact with people how I would expect to be talked to.
All too often nowadays some people are rude, self serving and hypocritical without thinking (possibly) ,how they comes across.
Every action has a reaction - Kama.

I think we all agree with those sentiments @Anonymous and @Anonymous - but there are a lot more good people about than we give credit for, and they don't make a song and dance about the ways the help others. But it does make me angry sometimes that those who do cause the greatest hurt and harm get all the publicity and "celebrity" status. More time and effort and money is expended ensuring that their "rights" are protected, than is spent helping their victims, or so it seems.
