Explosion in London, United Kingdom

Explosion in London, United Kingdom

Commuters were reportedly injured in an explosion at Parsons Green underground station in west London.

Transport for London said the District Line was partially suspended because of a “security alert”. The Metropolitan Police said they were aware of the incident but could not provide further information. Firefighters have been called, and the Metropolitan Police said it was aware of the incident and its officers were also on scene. Witnesses told of an “extremely heavy police presence” and “quite a few people injured”. A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “The brigade was called at 8:21am (local time). Fire crews from Fulham, Wandsworth, Chelsea, Hammersmith and other surrounding fire stations are in attendance.”

Update 2: The incident is the fourth terrorist attack in the UK this year, following incidents at Westminster, London Bridge, Manchester and Finsbury Park in north London. The UK terrorism threat level remains at severe, meaning an attack is highly likely. Perpetrator is still at large, no details or updates on whether the attack was conducted by an organisation or an individual.

The Police Commander they spoke to 'implied' it appeared to be failure of the original plan. In that the device exploded too soon....?  22 injured whether it failed or not!!

I'm also fine @Anonymous.

Just woke up to the news. Sickening that this has happened again. From what I've just read thankfully no one was killed though about 20 were injured.

I never take the tube. Always take the bus and the occasional taxi.

Thank God they didn't take any lives this time. People will now be nervous on the tube wondering if another such device will be left.

My heart goes out to those jnjured and their families.

I've no doubt there are more such incidents to come. These are very dangerous people who don't value human life and are prepared to kill men, women and even children to achieve their goals. These are very dangerous times.

Woke up to this a couple of hours ago and I'm appalled. The tube is too easy a target and always likely to be crowded at any given time. Thankfully this one apparently failed but there is nothing more surer that another atrocity will follow soon.

Yes @jonsie they spoke to one of the guys who was actually on the tube. He said it is always busy and people are generally packed in like sardines. Latest is that 29 people have been treated for injuries including burns
