An icon of football died today. Amongst many things he was the footballer responsible for the abolition of the maximum wage in football, though whether that was a good thing or not is open to debate.

Jimmy Hill: Former Match of the Day presenter dies aged 87
Jimmy Hill, one of English football's most influential figures, has died aged 87.
As chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association, he led the campaign for the scrapping of maximum wages for professional footballers.
The former Match of the Day presenter made more than 600 appearances on the programme.
His other numerous roles in football included player, manager, chairman and analyst.

Simply the best manager Coventry City ever had. They won many titles under his leadership. Such a legend that his statue is outside the Ricoh Arena.

I used to love is tuning to him and Brian Clough on MOTO. ...always controversial and interesting. Both legends sadly gone now.
