I've read about growing ears on thighs and the use of umbilical cords for all manner of things but I never cease to be amazed by our researchers, scientists and medical people.

I am glad this article came to light in a BBC news report ....as a similar report three years ago stated this operation was carried out in China. It wasn't believed until the Rhinoplasty Dept in Seattle said it was possible

http://www.rhinoplastyinseattle.com/blog/updates-and-analysis/post/can-a-plastic-surgeon-really-grow...

Also we had a plastic surgery dept at my hospital and it was custom and practice to grow new stents/tubes for

repair of damaged parts. These were always grown on a different part of the body..away from the area to be grafted until that blood supply improved...and they knew the graft would take...

Amazing what they can do these. It's not to be sniffed at...
