Hi folks     Those of you who followed my story will know I was sad when I didnt reach the criteria for a Hearing Dog for the Deaf.   

Ive now been offered a Sounds Support Dog. The process is underway but could take a while .

                                                                       On the beach!Thats the fun side 

Theres a file of 40 sheets of notes & illustrations . Signs & commands, sound work , grooming, health,  etc  etc.  

The instructor who came today started on sounds,  Loki hears a paricular sound. Today the cooker timer alarm..

Sounds as if there's lots of training to do and it's interesting.

Cara our trainer gave us  2 days instruction, plus  walks on & off lead in differing places Loki gets treats for commands. eg  heel, watch me, Loki come etc

• His sounds training began with a squeaker which I squeak behind my back , hes trained to nudge my leg.  (illustration, wrong critter)    

* The next step was the cooker timer , I sit a short distance from it, when the alarm sounds he nudges my leg, I ask ''what is it ?''. He takes me to the timer .Loki gets a small treat.

  Eventually over time I'll be able to set the alarm then  be anywhere in the house when it goes off   At the moment I need to stay in the kitchen in order to hear the cooker's own timer go off. Or we get burnt offerings :-).

Hi      My first real taste of dog ownwership today . Dog walking off lead at 8.15. In the RAIN.    and at 4pm too.
