Lots of good points in there @ComaChameleon and well made too.

Maybe I’m uneducated on the system. Someone help me out here!!

At any country in the EU they can register as asylum seekers. Once accepted they can then move to any country within the EU zone. Correct? (Or if the EU had a system they could direct the skills to which country needed them)

Instead they decide to trek across Europe & risk life and limb to come to the UK.
(Rightly or wrongly) This is where my sympathy wanes.
While I consider my homeland to be our castle and our systems to be one of the best.
I don’t see a robust system in place to work out who deserves / needs / should be here.

(And yes you’re right.. there are lots of other countries they pass through before the EU that should also be places they can consider)

Personally and not wishing to upset people, I think our system, particularly the Dept Of Work and Pensions (DWP) and other establishments, look after immigrants here, better than any other country. They are fed, housed and given job opportunities. No other country does he same.

Whilst we have so many homeless people who are British, this tends to stick in my craw a bit.

For some reason, asylum seekers from the North African and some Middle-Eastern countries also seem to trek way across Europe to get to Sweden too.

Not sure if it is to be with another family member, or to avail of benefits until they get on their feet, or to avail of the health service...

That is a good question, @Anonymous, one I have often wondered about.

I do think that registration for asylum purposes does not initially give freedom of movement within the EU, just permits them access to services in the country of registration for a period of time - another one of these myths that countries in the EU cannot impose their own immigration controls, when in fact they are each perfectly entitled to do - look at the border control differences between Spain, Greece, Ireland and such for COVID-19 - all fully paid-up EU member states, free to control entry/exit as they see fit.

Make that another @Cleoriff & yes @pgn I also read that Sweden is a favoured destination too.

People crossing land borders doesn’t get much sympathy (did I say sympathy.. oops I meant coverage) .. as opposed to a boat load drowning at sea.

From what I’ve read this morning, after being documented as requesting asylum. They then have to seek citizenship in that country being afforded full EU citizen rights and then can move freely between EU member (Schengen) states.

So there is a system in place where they can move from country to country but that’s obviously not the meal ticket they want.

This is totally the point and one that makes this country the benefits shangri-la

...but just try and get benefits yourself, the hoops you have to jump through and then to be told you don't qualify for help!

Not sure just how a one-legged man is refused disability allowance because I'm too old

If the accident had been two years earlier I would have qualified and been able to get a new car, suitably modified, and pay only for petrol.

Yet I see so many so called disabled people driing mobility cars!

As the phrase goes "Follow the money" and you'll soon find out links between Soros, NGO's and various government leaders being influenced to implement policies. I'll leave that to you to look up but you'll discover why there is a lack of interest in reducing the migration at the highest levels as it doesn't align with the influencer's plans to make money. See also The Great Reset.

@jonsie totally sympathise with you on that. I know of someone who has now got a mobility car somehow yet is quite capable of work but has not had any intention of working for many years. Plays the system too well and effectively is aided and abetted by the system who won't apply their own rules correctly. Seems to me the more fuss you make in front of them the more inclined they are to cave in to demand.

Edit: also lives quite near the supermarkets and is near town so I'm appalled to why a car was given under the circumstances in the current lockdown.

As far as I know they have to stay in the country they applied at (but isn't that a state's own decision and no EU-wide one?)

And it's not only UK, we here in Germany took many of that people too - the most to be precise as you can see HERE (it's the numbers of 'first asylum-applications'). As it's a European (not EU!) and world-problem, all countries should do their piece of help - like Russia and USA too.

Actually Germany has the even better system. They get free health insurance (which offers more than NHS does) - every other person has to pay around 200€ per month (if not working - workers even more as it's % of the wage), as it's a "voluntary insurance" - but in fact you have to have it, if you want or not...

You get money here even if you don't WANT to work. The job center gives you suggestions which you have to apply for and need to attend job interviews, but for example you go there with joggingshorts and greasy shirt with a beer bottle - and don't get the job because of that - that's fine. You get your money as you applied.

But that's only if you don't own a house/flat. Than you get nothing as you need to spend your capital first (which p1sses me off really hard).

Aswell as let them enter the borders without passports... Just thrown away to pretend being from another country (aswell as age-lies).

What do you mean, that 4 wheeled "health insurance choppers"? Or an actual car?

So NHS only gives help until age xy? (I heard of, but couldn't believe.... There are rumours "above age xy you don't get a new hip" for example...Is that true?)

Here the so called "asylum seekers" even drive BMW, Mercedes etc...

btw, if you write/say things like we all do on this thread, you're called a Naz1 in Germany...
