The BBC have announced that two patients in the UK have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
No further details have been given other than they are both members of the same family and are receiving specialist NHS care.

At present, 83 Britons and 27 foreign nationals are flying back to the UK from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak.
The flight is due to land at RAF Brize Norton at 13:30 GMT.
The UK passengers will then be taken to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral and quarantined for two weeks.

Would that include the recently knighted Sir Tom who jetted off to the Caribbean and has now sadly succumbed to pneumonia and covid?

Keep it simple
Stop all flights in and out of UK
It has all got out of control
I note the Isle of Man, through locking it's border, has relaxed Covid restrictions - border remains locked.

Sadly yes @jonsie.
Also I doubt very much that this 100 year old wonderful man woke up one morning and said 'lets all go to the Caribbean for a family holiday'.
I think we have his daughter to thank for that.
Tragic that he has now succumbed to this disease.
R.I.P you inspirational gentleman.

It would have been sensible for him to get the jab..☹
Apparently he had a chest infection @TallTrees so he wasn't allowed it.
Having said that, the vaccine has been rolled out for weeks now so I'm not sure why he wasn't one of the first on the list at his age?

Ryanair's controversial advert 'Jab and Go'has been banned.
The Advertising Standards said it was extremely misleading. Showing pictures of young people jumping into a pool and stating they would be ready to travel by Easter.
It also totally avoided any mention of the travel restrictions and self isolation/clear covid test required upon return to the UK.

Totally agree. Dead simple.
If all countries agreed to ground all commercial flights, and only allow freight, this would make much more sense.
I'm long past believing this is anything to do with health now though. They want to keep this going for as long as the law will allow them too to try and justify the disgraceful invasion on our liberties they have instigated.
I'm sick to the teeth of the government propaganda. The awful TV and newspaper adverts. The massaged figures and mis-recording of what is a covid death.
Captain Tom's situation is very sad, god rest his soul. But the fact remains, he caught covid WHILE IN HOSPITAL for treatment of pneumonia. Yes he was an inspirational man, and it is very sad, but the real story here is why are people
still going into hospital free of covid (test on arrival is negative) and testing positive while in hospital or when discharged. Hospitals need to sort their ship out, because us general public are being blamed by MPs for the spread of covid, but we're not the problem. The rule breakers being reported are very very small isolated incidents that are being sensationalised by the media to push the government's agenda. We have had our freedoms and pretty much everything worth living for ripped away from us by our absolutely useless MPs for the sake of a virus that only seriously affects a fraction of a percent of the population, being told we need to save the NHS. The NHS needs saving from itself, the government and the bureaucrats in charge, because donkeys' years of underfunding is why it is struggling, not covid.
The government has jumped on this sad story to conveniently drop the hint that we have variants running rampant in the country now, all in readiness for Boris to tell us we are going to continue to be locked up like lab rats and that they can't start easing restrictions. Conveniently all of this is happening in the lead up to the review of the restrictions due at the end of next week.
It really can't be a coincidence that in the lead up to every single review of restrictions since the beginning of this farce, they have dropped news/reports of information that suggests there are major changes that mean they have to keep restrictions in place.
First it was we need to save the NHS, then we'll be ok.
Then it was we need to get the deaths down. That was achieved.
Then it became, "we must flatten the curve", and "get the R rate down". That was achieved. So what next?
Then they introduced mass testing of asymptomatic adults, school children etc, which has produced tens of thoudsands of false positive results in people with no symptoms. This has resulted in the "There are still too many infections/cases". You only have to listen to experts like Carl Heneghan to know that a "case" is somebody displaying symptoms. Not somebody who is asymptomatic. We as humans have been walking around for decades as asymptomatic carriers of things like colds and flu. But 99.99% of people can fight these off with their own immune system so it doesn't matter.
So now we are promised that things can start getting back to normal once the vulnerable groups are vaccinated (the vaccine program being the one thing the government has shown some form of competence). So what can they do to keep it going after this? I know, we'll drop the hint that there are dangerous variants doing the rounds that might be resistant to the vaccine, get it into people's heads. And then when the time comes to review things, we can say it's too early and keep people locked up.
Conspiracy theory? It's looking less likely every day in my opinion. There is way too much money being made from things like PPE and pharmaceuticals now. Chris Whitty, Patrick Vallance, other members of SAGE, friends of Boris, Hancock etc, are all benefiting financially from this. They have no money worries, and are rich people so it doesn't matter to them that the economy is up the tube.
With the introduction of the covid vaccines now there really should be no excuse for restrictions to continue. There have already been thousands of businesses go bust, millions losing or about to lose their jobs. Almost every "Normal" adult I suspect has been suffering from mental health issues (I know I have). It is only going to get worse unless they open things up soon. Abandon social distancing, mask wearing etc except in the places that need it by introducing stricter rules in the settings such as hospitals and care homes predominantly.
