BT making a bid to take over 02

Anonymous

Hey,  new customer here,  I have experienced terrible problems with BT customer service,  if 02 is taken over by them I will cease to have ANYTHING to do with 02.  BT is atrocious.

Indeed that is true. I could extol the virtues of BT till I was red in the face....Someone else may have a completely different experience of them...

Or will BT buy both.....?

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

BT will certainly NOT be allowed by the regulators to buy both o2 and EE as this would give them 55% approx of the market.

If a takeover takes market share over 25% it usually requires EU as well as UK approval however as BT don't have a mobile network that should be fine. BT may, however, have to cede some of their 4g capacity they purchased.

Very True....

BT have nothing to lose as they can negotiate a better deal with either of the potential sellers.

It also seems our EU counterparts are looking to offload these providers. They are probably aware of something that is brewing in the longer term model of the EU...Don't know

I think the reason that these EU companies are trying to bail out of the UK market is because it is too competitive for them. The UK networks are not that profitable yet between them they are spending £ billions on upgrading networks. For such a resource intensive business they need profit.

It's beginning to heat up now that Three Network could potentially be interested;
