Any Depeche Mode fans out there?

Gutted that I forgot to post this on the day but I'll do it now..

Cast your mind back to 5 Feb 1990.. what were you up to?

That's when this bad boy was released. 30 years old!!

But did you know what it was originally composed as a ballad?

I adore the released version but I'd love to have heard it as a ballad too?

So come on you Depeche Heads (that's what we were called round ere) what's your favourite tune???

And also great news that they're to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

I love all genres of music @Anonymous (except jazz)  but sadly I wasn't keen on Depeche Mode...

Ooh (Enjoy) The Silence is one of my favourite dance tracks. Took all the miserable bits of the DM song and kept three words without destroying the original. Throw your hands up in the air like you just don't care for the Mike Koglin version:

Though I have a fondness for the Vince Clarke era and this video is such a throwback:

And the post-VC era where they went darker but kind of lost track of them post 1986. Time for a DM Youtube playlist then!

I love that version of EtS @sheepdog for the same reasons you mentioned.. nothing lost. The VC era was a great start but I’m kinda glad he left.. I can’t imagine the Erasure sound from Dave Gahan.. although DG does that weird camp stage twirling but somehow manages to remain masculine.. such a stage a presence..

I remember when New Life entered the charts.. I'd never been so excited by New Wave till then!

And yes @Sheila53 Everything Counts in large amount 😉
