No need for that as along with the updates O2 are committed to 98% indoor coverage by 2015, for 2G 3G and 4G so this has already started.

No it will be 2 years to completion!
They won't be doing the whole country in one night in two year's time.
The work is underway right now.
Right now there is no 3G in your area so if you switch your phone to 2G only you may well get a better signal at home and a longer battery life.
