when i send a text message to one number the replies come from another number

My husband recently gota new phone and asked O2 to transfer his old number to it. When I send him a text he receives it but his replies come to me in a different thread and from a different number. Can anyone explain why this is happening and is there anything I can do about it?

He needs to go to Settings >Phone >My Number and edit it to his number, save and reboot phone.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
OnePlus 6 (O2 & Sfr), Z3 Tablet (Three UK), iPhone 8+ (EE)
