the message system and greeting menu

Can someone explain why the message system has been changed recently and is now so much more time consuming than the old one? If it was not broken, why has someone decided to change it?

The new system is completely unnecessary and unhelpful or is it just me that thinks this?

O2 have recently updated the entire voicemail system because they said it was the same basic system that dates back to CellNet days.

the options menu through 901 has been changed making the process more time consuming and in my view unnecessarily complicated
