How long should it take for a battery to fully charge on a lumia 1020 . It takes mine over three hours , with wireless charger. My old lumia 800 was fully charged in an hour. It seems an awfully long time

I would say about right for the size of battery on a wireless charge.....

See listed disadvantages here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductive_charging

and a comparison for an S4 here http://www.anandtech.com/show/7134/a-look-at-samsungs-galaxy-s-4-qi-wireless-charging-pad-review

Hi.

Usually a phone being charged from a wall plug charger will take approx one hour as you say.

However 3 hours does seem an excessive charging period even for wireless charging.

Are you only using the original Nokia accessories.
Is everything aligned up ok.
Is this the one where the backplate clips onto the phone and has two little pins that align up on the back of the phone ? Is so are they clean and un damaged.

I cannot see in any user manual that the charging time using this avenue is extended.

You may need to speak to the shop where you got it from and ask for a replacement or speak to Nokia Support.

True that wireless charging is slower however the battery in the lumia 800 aint that much smaller than the 1020.... 1450mAh vs  2000mAh.

So 3 x longer seems a bit weird.

Three hours does seen excessive.

As i've suggested speak to Nokia directly on this for a more informed answer.

Take care.

asuming the dt900 wireless charger that outputs 750ma and the battery at 2000ma it should take 2 hours 40 mins assuming a flat battery just easy maths if not the above find charger output and divide that into battery capacity. see below for other examples

This assume the phone is off when charging our you will add time for standby usage.

So on usb at 500ma it will take 4 hours

on a wall plug at 1000ma (like apples) it will take 2 hours

or nokia universal 1500ma charger (max universal usb charger spec) 1hour 20mins

correct as per my calculations above.
a=b/c

time to charge (a) = battery ma capacity (b) / charger ma output (c) so you can work out charge time for any device with any charger type
