p2p speeds now dropped since changing package

My internet was working fine a few days ago, could download p2p files really quick and was regularly getting 100kb downloads speeds. Got a phone call last Friday and was told that the price for my plan was going up by about £2 a month. Nothing at all would change and I would still get the same service I was getting before. Apparantly the new plan is called the All Rounder and is the same as I was already on (just new name). I said ok as I had never had any problems with connection or speed on o2 so didn't want to change.
Well new router arrived 2 days ago wireless box IV. Plugged in, had a few problems getting it working but finally did. Thought everything would be the same but on using p2p I find I am getting no more than round 22kb download speeds. I only use p2p off peak and no more than around 8GB a week. Don't play games etc the only other thing I do is general surfing the net so not sure why my speeds have dropped so much, anyone else noticed this when using p2p

Thanks for the reply adamtemp64.
As it's not what I was promised on the phone then surely I can get out of the contract as it's not what they promised me. I was told nothing at all would change other than the name and price. Why have they changed things so much? I looked up all rounder and it says I will get downloads speeds of 100kb off peak and allowance of 100GB a month which is much less than I use anyway so why am I not getting this?

Unfortunately you are now stuck with it, as there is no way back to a legacy package, you should have been informed of the traffic management on the new package you have switched to.
This is what's been going on:

Were you also told about the price increases from the 31st March?
This is not being handled very well at all! 😐
Check out the Home Broadband section of the forum for more information.

Just had this reply:
Thanks for your email.

Our new packages come with the Traffic Management Policy. This allows us
to determine the type of traffic on our network, and manage it in the
best way. Peer to Peer is typically used by applications that do file
sharing. Often this means large media files being transferred and eats
up network capacity. Traffic management allows everyone their fair share
of the network. So, your broadband speed is slow.

To discuss this further, please call us on 0800 230 0202. It's a free
call from landlines and O2 mobiles. Remember to drop the first zero if
you're calling from a mobile phone.

I hope this helps.
Why didn't they tell me this on the phone? I would have signed up with someone else, they never mentioned the new traffic management policy just said everything would stay the same as it was before

Because the people who called you are an external marketing company who, (being generous) probably don't understand fully what they are selling.
Were you told about the price increase?

Yes I was told about the price increase, going upto just under £17.50 a month instead of just under £15.50 a month plus I get 3 months free internet as well.
I think I should be allowed to cancel if the company getting me to sign up didn't know what they were doing, they record calls don't they so surely mine will be there and o2 would hear I was never told of the traffic management policy? Is there not a cooling off period for new contracts?

Technically it's not a new contract, it's a renewal so I think you'd be best to speak to O2 about your options.
