one week now without any phone signal in Buxted area, ongoing problem O2 seemingly doing nothing to resolve or answer complaints

Your local mast is down so they'll be working on it, give them a ring when it's fixed and they may well offer you something for the inconvenience: http://status.o2.co.uk/

You can register for text updates by calling customer service. At least they are aware of the problem.

Have you tried another location?

Have you checked for work being done in your area? http://status.o2.co.uk/
