Get a new SIM and switch your contract. Call CS on 202. You get 1 free number swap.

Why would the op need a new sim customer services can just change the number

Have you reported the spam?
Texts or phone calls?

I wouldn't be so quick to change your number till you have tried getting the spam stopped.
