Hi guys,

As most of you are aware, we use the "kudos" feature to say thanks or to show that you agree with someone else's post.

We think this feature is very useful for the community, but we understand that some of you really don't like the word "kudos" itself and have asked in the past to change it. We're evaluating this option and would love to hear your suggestions for an alternative word.

Fire away!

@Perksie I can't deny that I do like Bingo! Not quite sure everybody would get it, I'll see if there's room for testing.

@BoB Well, it's more than that. I'll try to explain below in my reply to MI5, it's pretty much a double answer.

@MI5 Long answer.

While I agree that authored solutions are a far more accurate metric, kudos have a value for both new comers and the community owner - not so much for regulars, agreed.

It's certainly not a black & white measurement that you take away and present as a positive, sometimes it helps identifying an issue that needs to be investigated further. For instance, if somebody raises a problem (or posts a suggestion), an accepted solution wouldn't be appropriate but kudos give us an indication of how many people agree with a particular post. We can then look into it and report to the execs in the appropriate way, balancing the nature and the content of the post. Much easier than counting posts, considering that people are more inclined to press a button rather than proactively contribute to a thread.

From a new comer perspective, it helps them identify useful contributors - again, it can be totally incorrect as a new user with a low kudos count could be amazingly helpful. All with a pinch of salt. Likewise, some posts with lots of kudos may be very interesting or not. It's certainly not the perfect system but if used correctly it can be of help.
