Using abroad

I use my phone frequently from abroad & recently have started getting texts from O2 asking me to contact them to confirm my phone hasn't been stolen because I've gone £22 over my monthly bill. Not unusual for me. I contacted them yesterday & got my roaming facility unrestricted. Quite why it should get restricted in the first place baffles me. Then to my horror I got a text today saying my phone was barred until I paid them £22. On checking my account its clear. Has anyone else had this happen?

As to why it blocked - this is for your protection. Just like your credit card will block if you have unusual transactions abroad.

If you have paid the amount owed - this can take up to 24 hours to process. If you paid it and bars wede in the process of being added then unfortunately they will still add. Jjst call CS tomorrow or use webchat and tell them you've ppaid and they'll remove the bar.

I know it can be a pain in the ass if you need your phone for talking to people back home but it is a security measure to protect you so don't worry!

I've got a zero balance on my account & my bill isn't due for another two weeks. I called cs before I left & explained where I was going & still they put a bar on it. I've been using my phone from abroad for the last 15 years & can't understand why this has suddenly become such an issue. I'm all for security but this is a shade excessive.

I'd have to agree. I'd be most annoyed if I was switched off when abroad esp after informing them. I can understand the security aspect of protecting stolen phones etc but there has to be a way of allowing customers to go abroad and not get cut off ?
