Upgrade scam?

03448260202 is this O2 or a client ie carphone warehouse??? Had a call from this number and they offered to pay the outstanding balance on my 5s (£100) if I upgraded now!
They knew my personal details and when my phone would be paid off by normal payments etc but is it O2?
If it's carphone warehouse they can run and jump!

Surely it would be helpful in this day of phone numbers being seen as suspicious, if O2 were to stick to using one number for sales calls and make it public so people can be sure.

Good idea Good Idea

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

There used to be a page with their sales number so you knew if calls were genuine, long gone now. Smiley Frustrated

I remember that page but as you say,  long since gone. Most genuine numbers do end in 0202 but an official list would certainly help.

I agree with all of the above because when you do a google search via the numerous 'who called me' type websites available ...you get different answers. They range from O2, CPW or spam caller

Having had a call from this number myself last night, I was able to quiz the guy sufficiently for me to be assured it was a call from O2 directly.
They call people who are eligible for an upgrade to see if they want to or not, or just continue with their airtime tariff.
I assured him that I was happy for now and he invited me to call 202 if I changed my mind at any time.
The guy was polite and professional and I had no issues with the call at all, ie not pushy and I see no reason to be worried if anyone did choose to upgrade from such a call at all.
