I seriously doubt Vodafone will be allowed to take over Liberty Global as that would put them in a dominant position to monopolise the backbone infrastructure. BT would be the first to complain about it. Can't see them taking over Sky either as they'd be stretching themselves too far in debt to realise any profit for shareholders.
Question is, who actually holds the upper hand here - is it the infrastructure/content delivery mechanism or the actual media content that needs to be delivered?
Besides, Sky has a bigger fight on its hands from the likes of Google, Apple, Amazon etc on who gets the content rights.

Press release from Hutchison Whampoa (3's parent company)
http://www.hutchison-whampoa.com/en/media/topic/2729/HWL-O2/
Anyone still on O2 legacy tariffs? Get ready to be forced off if 3 do what they did with their own customer base. But on the plus side, no compulsory price rises for all. Just compulsory tariff changes for all!

All you can eat data even on payg
O2 has stagnated, it needs change to survive.
1. O2 unlock handsets relatively easily if you are on contract unless it is an iPhone in the first 6 or 7 years of release of course
2. I'll give you that one
3. I'll half give you that one. Just don't try to tether with it (especially on PAYG). Or remain on a price plan that offers all you can eat tethering. Because you can't!
