OK I've just received this and I find it very suspicious
It looked official - but sent from O2.com

The current O2 forum has become one of the most popular parts of o2.co.uk and so we've decided to give it a bit of a facelift.
We know that you're really involved with the O2 forum today and with the new forum, you'll be able to participate even more - and you'll be rewarded for it!
You'll start collecting Kudos for all your contributions, from the rest of the community. You can even mark posts as solved when a question has been answered!

With our new forum, all users will sign in with an o2.co.uk account. This is the same account you use to manage your O2 products and services online i.e. check your bill, top your O2 Money card up. Each user will also have a display name which is used to represent them when they post in the forum.
Because you're one of the top users of our forum, we wanted to transfer your existing username into the new forum so you can keep it as your display name. For us to do that, we need an existing o2.co.uk account to link the display name to.
Do you have an o2.co.uk account and would like your display name transferring to that account? If you do, you can let us know simply by replying to this email mentioning the o2.co.uk username you have. If you've forgotten what your o2.co.uk username is, you can find it out here: https://registration.o2.co.uk/Reclaim/ReclaimUserName.
If you don't have an o2.co.uk account and would like to keep your existing display name, we need you to register an o2.co.uk account here (http://www.o2.co.uk/register). Once you're registered, reply to this email mentioning your new o2.co.uk username and we can begin the linking process.

I have had it as well all official o2 communication normal is o2.com and I had a pm a while ago saying things were going to change.
I will ask on twitter if official or just keep watching the announcmnet thread

The new forum idea sounds very like the GiffGaff community forum. Sounds like they might actually be looking at ways to make the forum more useful, busier and keep the helpful regulars happy slight_smile

I can confirm that the email is genuine and to clarify any email from o2.com is legit as it's is our corporate domain name. An o2.co.uk email account is used by and are available for our customers.
All others who've not received any email, please keep an eye on the announcements section to know more about what's happening next. We've great upcoming plans for our forum community, so watch the space! slight_smile
