Samsung Omnia on O2 - Internet, MMS, etc. Settings

Anonymous
Not applicable
Ok so I got my Omnia on O2 from Mobiles.co.uk a week and a half ago. Transferred my old O2 number which I've had for 3 years across no problem despite O2 giving me the hard sell trying to keep me even though I wasn't going anywhere!

I have however, been unable to get online or send MMS messages. I called O2 and went into my local shop but both said that O2 'do not support' the Samsung Omnia. They suggested I called Samsung which I did.

Samsung sent me two messages which were passcode protected. They said that once I put in the pass code it would update my settings automatically and I'd be off. I did as they said (about 4 days ago) and still no luck. They said if it didn't work to ring them back and they'd go through manual settings with me. Unfortunately I've not had time as I only seem to get a minute to myself whilst Samsung are closed!

Does anyone have a guide to inputting the manual settings or know where one is available?

Thanks in advance.

PS I realise there is already a thread on the Omnia but it appears more concerned with people actually getting their hands on one. I thought it might be handy to have an easy to use, easily accessible resource to help people get online.

Try here http://getsettings.o2.co.uk/ServeSettingsWebApp/

put your mobile no in and it should check for you.

Other than that I can give you the manual settings for you to check. But i cant promise they would work.

Let me know

Thanks but unfortunately neither way has worked. Both say that they cannot get the settings at this time. Any other ideas?

Hmm. I've just tried to edit my WAP settings but this message comes up:

'This connection is pre-configured. It cannot be modified.'

Does this mean that Orange have somehow locked the phone settings?

I suppose that is the case, however with Windows Mobile you can change almost any setting through a registry edit - this carries the same risk as a registry edit on a computer though.

I came across this when I was trying to find info on the phone, I haven't tried it cause I've not got the phone, but it looks promising!!
