I have two mobile phones. One of which is used regularly and an O2 PAYG, which is used as an emergency backup. The latter's credit was topped up on 18th May 2016 but has not been used since.
I noticed today I had no service and logged into my O2 account online. This strongly suggests the SIM has been deactivated, because my phone number no longer appears.
I'm afraid I wasn't aware of the 6 month ruling for usage and given I have potentially forfeited the credit, I'm certainly not prepared to pay a reconnection fee. Has anyone got any advice on this one.

There won't be any reconnection fee involved.

@Anonymous Your details and credit should still be available for that number. Do as @MI5 suggests and O2 should reinstate the account. When you do get your credit back, just make sure you make a chargeable call or send a text every three months or so, even if you don't use the number a lot. Give yourself a reminder on your calendar.:smileywink:

Many thanks for the advice. My SIM has been reactivated and now waiting for my credit to be reinstated. Process was relatively straightforward forward, even if it took a while to get past the automated help desk. Had to ring 0344 809 0202, rather than 4445... because my other phone is not O2. Hope you had a good Xmas a have an excellent New Year
