My son and I both have mobiles on O2pay-as-you-go.
He is going on a trip to the USA and I want to be able to contact him on his mobile.
Despite assurances from customer services that I can text or call him as normal,
on his last visit nothing got through.
Can some kind soul please tell me what we are doing wrong?
Does his mobile need to be set up in a particular way over there?
Or do I need some prefix to his number, perhaps?

You should be able to call as normal provided that both accounts have international calls provisioned. Call CS and make sure both numbers are provisioned correctly.

Is he only going to NY or are there any other states? If so, I'd be happy to tell you what the agreements are for the other states tomorrow?
But either way, a manual network selection should bring them up anyway.
