O2 customer details being leaked???

Hi,

I received the below email which is almost certainly a phishing attack, given the real email address it came from and the URL behind the "HERE" link. Did anyone else get this? It is scary that they got hold of my name, email address, phone number and even date of birth and now they want my password too.

We can see that you've recently paid your monthly bill and we request that your information is validated before we can finalize your balance.

Please confirm that the information displayed below is correct:

If I we're o2 I would have closed access to MyO2 until they could control it. I fully appreciate people would have complained but it would have been better than leaving customers open to fraud.

Honestly.... it really is ok to say do not click on the link.....most of us know that...there are equally as many that wont.know its a scam

We are hearing from people who have thought to come to the forum...what about the untold numbers who haven't posted here? I suspect there are going to be a lot of folk who are totally ripped off with this..:smileysad:

I will reply to this also Nick. It's appalling. Have they no idea that this is a lot worse than the one in January 2013....Its as if we are the first to hear about it...Oh let me think about that...We probably are

The very least they should do in light of the current wave of phishing emails, is to post a warning on the website. Not hard is it?? They, however, just prefer to bury their head in the sand whilst people are being taken to the cleaners by these shysters.

I also got this email and the day before that the same request via SMS from 02UK, noticed the 0 instead of an O.

 

It looks phishy obviously, but to have all that info, makes it look plausible. I went direct to the O2 website to check all was OK and it was. I copied the link and pasted it into Google, which led me to this thread.
