O2 has confirmed to ISPreview that they’re also emailing existing mobile customers to forcibly move them to the new pricing policy, albeit with a right to exit their contract as a result. This is as opposed to the usual approach, where such changes only occur for new customers or via natural re-contracting at the end of a contract term. We don’t think VMO2 are going to win too many adoring fans with this one
Personally I hope for a mass exodus

Mine was exactly the same. I left. Still got no word of any further cost. I’m ready for it regardless

Go to Confused.com, and with Uswitch, select O2 deals, select the one you want - it will take you to O2 website and the affiliate deals are far better - just follow the process as an existing customer and you will save money and get a good 12 month deal ! - Limited time, Black Friday

Black Friday is obviously a limited time but we use uswitch all year round for better deals.
You'll find recommendations all over the forum.

Well I brought a new phone and have gone with EE for SIM only, we have broadband and get discounts got an unlimited plan for £13 a month. My number will be moved over by Monday evening, cannot wait to leave the terrible O2.
Surprised I haven't had a text from O2 saying sorry you are leaving, just needed to check it was you who requested to leave etc. I'm sure I got something like this when I switched providers the last time.

Well I got my final bill today after leaving O2 under their new t's & C's and I'm in credit with no mention of paying off the handset. I had a year left on a bundled (handset and airtime) plan from a third party. So looks like I have got away with it ???

My wife and I are definitely among those adversely affected by how O₂ have chosen to implement the Ofcom decision. It would of course have been far too hard for them to work out what RPI + 3.9% amounted to in monetary terms, so that's any semblance of fairness out of the window...

Not forgetting this little earner:
"O2 Pay As You Go (PAYG) customers can expect a 5% increase in out-of-bundle charges starting April 1, 2025."
Watch out for that SMS with emojis or URL link... MMS are already expensive as it is!

And Travel Inclusive roaming going from £6 to £7 per day and that has already happened
