I have spoken to over 4 people at O2 about my internet being barred. I did request this in November to cut the price of my bill. This has not happened! I was told each time that the internet would be barred because I was getting charged a lot of money for data that was being used not by me but by 02mobile.co.uk. I only use my wifi if i want the internet.
The last time I spoke to a member of the 02 team (21st dec) I actually made a complaint and the guy said my internet will be barred and that money will be refunded in my next bill (same response as the last other times). I have now just checked what has been used since the 21st Dec and surprise surprise my data allowance has been used! So my internet is not barred and the same thing is going to happen again, big bill (which i am struggling to pay since this was the reason why I changed my tarriff and barred the internet in the first place!) and refund from the last time they have screwed up!

It sounds as if you were misinformed, I doubt they can turn off data for one customer.
As above you do this yourself in the phone settings.

Go into Settings >Mobile networks and untick "use packet data". The go into access point names and delete the two apn's that are listed as O2 Internet and O2 MMS.

Sorry, but I don't believe you. The option is on every phone if you look in the right place
It might be called something slightly different such as "cell data" or "mobile data" but it definately will be there.....
