As the level of spam is rising which of the options above would you like to see remembering that these forums are called customer forums.

The spam levels are getting really silly now, it's hard to see who is genuinely in need of help, and I'm getting a bit bored with it now!
Come on O2, help us out here as you promised to do ages ago. 😐
New users should have their first few posts checked out for spam.
I don't think they should be closed to non customers though as often enquiries are made before joining O2.

Definitely, it's got out of hand. I basically have to have the site open all day anyway, but if there are ex-employees or any other helpful people who just come on to lend a hand to people then I can't see why they'd want to bother when you have to wade through so much rubbish.

Ms.live I am just a long standing customer that passes my knowledge on or points people in the correct direction on the support pages but feel less likley to help when you get over 30 spam posts in an hour and you miss a genuine query

The blame is firmly with O2, rather than the moderation contractors, for allowing the abuse to continue unabated, after all, this is their web site.
I believe the moderators are only using the rules/guidelines that they were originally given and at that time forum spam was non-existent.

Adamtemp, that's exactly what I mean - if there are people taking time out of their day to come on and answer questions then the spam must make you think 'why should I bother?'. If O2 want the forums to continue being useful then they need to sort it out before it drives away anyone who can be bothered helping.

Would this work ?
Any O2 customer joining the forum must quote their account number.
Any non-O2 customer must provide either a UK landline number or an 07 mobile number.

O2 yes but to register on this forum it's just an email address isn't it ?
They then send you an email, you have to click on a link to activate membership.....you could be anywhere in the world using Hotmail or Gmail.
