Free Gift '£240 Credit To Account'

Hi,

I am a newbie to both O2 and this board!

Can any one offer me help? On 9th March 2010 via O2's website I signed up to a £30 24 Month contract phone (Nokia 6700). At this time O2 were running a promotion of a 'free gift' for this phone and tariff....of a £240 credit to my account. I printed off the page from the O2 site at the time and I quote what it said about the promotion: 'If you buy the Nokia 6700 on our £30 24 month tariff, we'll credit your account with £240 by the time you get your second bill. No strings, just credit on your account. That's a whole heap of value for not very much cost'. Well I have just had my second bill and guess what.......no sign of the £240! I e-mailed O2 and this is the reply i got......

'Thanks for contacting us about the £240.00 credit.
I can understand your concern about the credit.
Kim, I'm sorry to tell you that we don't have or had any promotion
wherein we credit our new customers account with £240.00 on purchasing
the phone from us.
So your account wasn't credited with the amount.
As you have the link that state that we'll credit your account with
£240.00, I'll suggest you to reply to this email with the link, we'll
investigate the matter and advise you accordingly.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Kind regards
Chandrakant
O2 Customer Service

I am dumbfounded to say the least! Does anyone have any ideas how I persue this. The £240 'Free Gift' WAS a promotion and so I am entitled to it.

Please anyone, any help would be appreciated

hi....just to add that i got told something different every timei spoke to customer services, they actually stated that i would get my credit back on the 3rd month but this wasn`t until the second month also every time i got in touch they didn`t know what the hell i was going on about regarding the money on my pay n go sim as they said they couldn`t transfer it over to my contract as i wasn`t keeping my old number, this is what they told me when first signed up with contract (any money on pay n go would transfer over)..

Did you not keep you payg number.

If not then that sim is still live and the credit is still on it.

To transfer credit you have to keep your number all is made clear here http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C...

Moving your number from O2 Pay & Go to O2 Pay Monthly is simple. We'll also transfer your credit balance as well as any loyalty bonus (up to £350).
