I am a newbie to both O2 and this board!
Can any one offer me help? On 9th March 2010 via O2's website I signed up to a £30 24 Month contract phone (Nokia 6700). At this time O2 were running a promotion of a 'free gift' for this phone and tariff....of a £240 credit to my account. I printed off the page from the O2 site at the time and I quote what it said about the promotion: 'If you buy the Nokia 6700 on our £30 24 month tariff, we'll credit your account with £240 by the time you get your second bill. No strings, just credit on your account. That's a whole heap of value for not very much cost'. Well I have just had my second bill and guess what.......no sign of the £240! I e-mailed O2 and this is the reply i got......
'Thanks for contacting us about the £240.00 credit.
I can understand your concern about the credit.
Kim, I'm sorry to tell you that we don't have or had any promotion
wherein we credit our new customers account with £240.00 on purchasing
the phone from us.
So your account wasn't credited with the amount.
As you have the link that state that we'll credit your account with
£240.00, I'll suggest you to reply to this email with the link, we'll
investigate the matter and advise you accordingly.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Kind regards
Chandrakant
O2 Customer Service
I am dumbfounded to say the least! Does anyone have any ideas how I persue this. The £240 'Free Gift' WAS a promotion and so I am entitled to it.
Please anyone, any help would be appreciated

Anyway, if you call customer services on 202 you should get much further as the deal you took was promoted all over the place.
Just a thought, the £240 credit may be applied to your second bill not the first. If it was applied to the first (which is usually produced within 48 hours of you opening the contract) then a customer could theoretically request the credit to be transferred to their bank account (takes approx. 5 days) and then return the phone back to o2 within the 14 day cooling off period 😮
This is the way that the £50 home broadband credit was done last month, it was applied 60 days after connection to make sure you were completely locked into the contract.

It makes sense about the bill scenario though, as my first bill was indeed produced within days of my account/phone going live.....I would deem this as bill zero. So in that case I have just had bill one (April) and bill two will be genertaed in May.
If I can summon up the enthusiam to call 202 I will, or I may just wait untill May's bill to see if the £240 turns up

I have had TWO bills so far from O2. The first a couple of days after the contract started and the next a month later. Do we start counting bills at 'number zero, one, two etc? Previous posters have suggested that the first bill (a couple of days after contract started) should be deemed bill zero. Is this correct? If this is the case then bill 'two' wil be my May bill. Hope this makes sense! I need a drink!

Hi pal.. am sorry to b bearer of MY bad news but i had experience with them when i signed up. I had to pay £50 up front for my mobile as i got the xperia p when they first came out, they told me i would get this back on my 3rd bill..my old phone was payand go and it was in credit by £20 0dd. i got in touch with them via chat in ere and they said the money would be transfered from pay and go and credited to my contract acc on the nxt bill date,, NEVA happened so i`s get back online to them. worked out they owed me just ova £70 and by time they paid up i got a whopping just ova £20.. it got to the 3rd month and my £50 still wasn`t returned to me so i would yet again get in touch to be told you have to wait for the 3rd payment to go through (clear) OMG!!!! ended up having a rite go at them and told them they were quick enough to take my money but reluctant to pay it back. all i can say is keep on at em, i no its a ball ache but it should work
regards
Tina

Regardless of the age of the thread
@Tina76
It has always been deposit returned on 4th bill I.E. after 3 cleard payments.
This from the support pages
Paying a deposit when buying a mobile
Some customers are asked to pay a deposit before the mobile is connected to the O2 network. This would usually be because of the credit rating given at the time of application for a Pay Monthly mobile.
These deposits are held for 3 months and then returned providing your bills have been paid in full.
If that has not been the case then raise a formal complaint following the advise here.
