Hi all,

I have received an email with the sender as "O2 UK". The email is about an EU law is changed so that O2 is due to refund us some money, than it asked you click here and take you to an login page where you need to input your "username" and "password".

DON'T DO IT.....

I have reported this to O2 now..

However, what concern me is that how can they get hold of my personal details and price plan and the eact amount I am paying....

Really concern me with the whole O2 security...

Argh Jane yes I would happily accept flowers.

I would also accept a resolution from o2 but I did take one thing from my 35 minute phone conversation with them, they have cherry picked what to answer and what not to answer and the more controversial conspiricist theory people amongst us should ask why.

  • The information contained within the email has to come from the O2 database
  • This is either leaked from O2 internally or a so-called trusted partner or from a misused data base from the now defunct Phone4U
  • This is more than a phising email. Who knows how many customers have already been subject to id theft with the information these people have?

It is the people who haven't posted on here @jonsie  that worry me. We have only seen the 'tip of the iceberg' from those who let the  forum know slight_frown

If that is the case though, why aren't the press running with it? Why the silence? Where is watchdog or itv news or if you want the truth sky news?

O2 have been forced to notify the Information Commissioners Office following a report by two websites today of alleged o2 data breaches.

Separate thread started.

Hello again everyone.

I have had a further conversation with the Directors Office today regarding the phishing emails.

In essence o2 are claiming that the ICO were notified some time before the press interest was shown. It was part of their standard process (The Register claimed to have phoned the ICO to be told that they had not been alerted. ........).

In relation to the myo2 data that a member on here mentioned, they said that the fact the page was a replica of o2's official page didn't confirm the data came from o2. They felt the page was mocked up by the scammers with information (wherever it came from) inserted.

In relation to partner sharing of data, they said that partners only hold limited information and certainly not all the information that other members are reporting on here. They were clear that the partners are only given the limited info they need to provide services and would not have puk codes for example.

We agreed to disagree on the outcome of this conversation. I continue to feel the breach is from o2 and that there are rumblings beneath the waves.

I also expressed concern that o2 are silent on this. He said o2 are not silent and that they are responding to individual concerns. I explained I felt that many out there might be affected as o2 are silent. He said the info is on the website. O2 have no plans to communicate with customers.

Nice to know we give our data and hard earned cash to a company that cares about us eh? ??
