Far too long on hold twice today

Anonymous
Not applicable

O2 used to be pretty good with answering their phones, but lately it's a lot worse. Today I have been on the phone for about 20 to 25 minutes one time and I forget how long the other time today. I gave up in the end. At least your announcement could say where in the queue I am? That way, I can judge if I am prepared to hold on or not and it won't waste 25 of my miniutes sitting doing nothing.

I wanted to renew my contract but I may as well just leave O2 and go elsewhere. It'll be cheaper. I was hoping to strike a bargain with O2 and get them to match someone else's price, as I've liked O2's service before, but if this is the way it's going to be, I won't stay.

As far as I'm aware, O2 don't price match. There are no more rewards for loyalty. New customers get offered the same deals as anyone who has been with O2 for any length of time. If you can get a better deal elsewhere, go for it. Just make sure you will be getting the same sort of coverage with any new provider that you now get with O2.

Thanks for your reply Bambino. O2 have price matched on their broadband service, and given me various discounts and free months on that before. I can't think that they have with my mobile phone, but they did give me free unlimited O2 to O2 minutes. So I did think they would be capable of budging a little. Also, as their prices are wildly bouncing up and down at the moment I assumed they would give me the price a phone was at an hour ago even if the current price is higher. I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy S4 as an upgrade and with the £32 package the price has gone from £199.99 to free to £49.99 in less than 2 days.

Covering is a problem where I live unfortunately, even with O2.

Tesco run on the O2 network, worth a look as they are meant to have good deals & good customer service.

Gif Gaf also use O2 network BUT they dont supply any handsets - just sims.

I was going to look at them Forkingabout, but sorted it out with O2 before getting around to it. Oh well too late now.

I got through fairly fast just now (5 minutes or so, 10 max). They didn't price-match but she said they would compare it to other offers if I was due to upgrade. I was doing it early though and going on their Refresh tariff. Well in the end I don't think I am on Refresh but I got her to half the handset price, and I'm paying what I expect to monthly. So I'm happy enough with that. She also put those costs onto my next bill for me rather than charging me today, and that has helped a lot. So I'm a happy bunny now and it's only really cost me £25 extra plus the early contract ending price, and it's worth that to me to get this phone now.

Glad you were able to sort it all out. If you're having problems with coverage at home, check out the TuGo app, if you haven't done so already. It's not perfect, but it does work for some. Good luck with your new phone.
