Dreadful Signal

Anonymous
Not applicable
In my home postcode o2 state "good indoor and outdoor" 2g coverage. I get intermittent service.

Today I spent half the day in Dunster in Somerset. Absolutely no signal at all. When I get home I looked at the coverage checker and it reads " good indoor and outdoor" 2g coverage.

This is now happening more and more often. So what is the problem? Why are o2 not sorting out the basics?

Across the social network I see thousands of posts criticising o2 but rarely see anything re Vodafone, Three or EE. Clearly this is an o2 issue.

Thoughts on a postage strap please

Hi Adriennadavey

Thanks for your message. Where did you end up after you left Cornwall (if you don't mind me asking).

I am on contract, 6 months in. I was with Vodafone but with regular outages including one that lasted 5 days and with awful customer service I left and the only other viable option was o2. Sadly though o2 coverage checker leaves alot to be desired.

O2 used to be so much better but their customer service has gone the way of Vodafone and the signal is now very poor as confirmed by MI5.

However it isn't just me or North Devon it does appear for o2 to be a national problem. It is just that North Devon is one of the worst places for o2 signal.

I ended up in Buckinghamshire, where my o2 signal is much better than it ever was in Cornwall. Even my old Three network signal was better up here lol.

It's annoying that some people can't get as good signal as others in other parts of the UK.

Shame you still have 18months left. We can hope the signal will improve for you very soon or perhaps you should consider selling your s4 to repay the remaining contract and take a new one out with a network that will give you better signal coverage

Hi Adriennadavey

Thanks again for your message.

Buckinghamshire is a long way from Cornwall. What took you there? Family / a love interest or work.

Re the S4 I am currently in discussion with CRS about the best foot forward. There are no plans to upgrade and given current coverage one must be realistic and say IF an upgrade does follow it will be much later in the cycle.

After 6 years in Devon maybe I should move back up country.

Better signal. Better broadband. Better pay.......

Case is compelling 🙂

For home use you could try Tugo?
Not sure if it's been suggested to you before ?

Hi MI5

I had TuGo but it was very unreliable. If I tried to send a text from the phone (when in patchy signal) TuGo wouldn't pick it up. I would have to type it in again in TuGo then send.

Also I had an issue where TuGo was constantly churning data. It is a widely reported issue on here.
In one 18 hour period TuGo used 254mb of data.

So I uninstalled it on the advice of o2 Customer Services who could not understand why or how it happened.

Thanks for the tip though.
