Changing contact number

I'm trying to change my contact number.  Why do I keep getting the message that I've reached the maximum limit of trying?  How do I get round this?

How are you trying to change? If you're wanting to change your mobile number you need to call customer service.

Totally confused. Perhaps @Anonymous can come back and clarify what he's trying to do?

I'm trying to change the mobile number on which o2 can contact me.  They send you a 6-digit code to enter in a box.  But every time I try, a message appears saying I've reached the maximum number of times I'm allowed.  Obviously this can carry on for ever.  They want me to change to another mobile number, but I don't have another one.

They want you to provide a different number from your current number? Perhaps you need to speak to customer service. Don't try to resolve this using Live Chat. Call 202 if Pay Monthly or 4445 in Pay & Go.
