wont send me text to upgrade

Hi, I’ve been trying the past two days to upgrade my iPad and they say to wait for a code to verify it’s me but it never comes. I’ve waited hours and nothing. Even when I click get a new code, it still doesn’t come.

iPads cannot receive text messages, so you need to put the sim in a phone to receive the code.
