Why are we told by o2 that as a pay monthly customer any phone can be in tethered yet you try to unlock the iPhone 7 and it's an instant NO!

Its in place to prevent people purchasing an iPhone on network lock, getting it unlocked for free, and reselling, especially while supplies of certain models and colours is limited by Apple.

Once supplied improve they will unlock them.

I can understand O2's stance on this, they want to sell the iPhone to their customers who want to use it on their network. Nothing wrong with that really.

the unlock page always says varies by handset

The only way of getting the iPhone 7 unlocked is to pay for the device in full....otherwise it's usually a 6 month wait...

T&Cs state ip7 is exempt from the unlock rules until a time that O2 decide.
