Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help...Im on a normal tariff with o2 and I am due to upgrade next February. (I know its a while off but I'm inpatient!) I popped into a o2 store over the weekend and was told that for a decent phone the only option is refresh and contracts are around £37 and most handsets have an upfront cost....I was looking at the iPhone 5c/5s and on refresh 02 have a an option on refresh for both the iPhone 5c/s at £600.00 for the phone plan...which for both phones is more than going into Apple and buying the handset sim free. The iPhone 5c is £469.00 to buy from Apple and the 5s starts at £549. It doesn't quite add up that you can get the phone sim free from Apple and o2 are charging so much more on refresh..Not so refreshing!

It pays to shop around. It's generally known that buying a phone outright will be cheaper than paying over a period of time.

How can it be a rip off when you have all the information and the choice?

I think its a rip off because t buy the phone ouright it is £469 not the £600 that o2 are charging. Surely when the phone is put on payg they will be charging £469 and not the £600 it costs on refresh

Until that happens we wont know what the pricing on Payg will be.

It took years and years to get rid of price fixing in this country, so people could look around for the best price.
Without it you would have no choice but to pay what the maker decides.
It's only a rip off if there is no choice!
