iPhone 5 Network Unlock

Hello,

 

Would like to know if O2 would allow me to unlock my iPhone 5 to any network, I have submitted a unlock request form at www.o2.co.uk/unlockmyiphone

 

Any help is appreciated.

Yea they will want you to use their services to recoup the subsidy levied against it.

I chose sim free from apple in order to have more scope.

I don't see the point of refusing to unlock for x amount of months. You still have to pay the contract even if you never use the SIM, so makes no sense......

I'm sure the reason behind it is fascinating, I can't help thinking Apple may be involved.

I thought I read somewhere that they don't unlock for the first few months, to stop people from upgrading, unlocking it and then selling the phone on, therefore depriving other o2 users from getting a handset during the period when there is short supply.
