If it's a new contract it can take up to 24 hours for sim to be activated

Give your SIM card a wipe.

Check your mast status to ensure the network is not having issues in your area.

Input your full postcode here http://status.o2.co.uk

If all is ok then it may be that ringing 02 to check your account status may help.
