I am travelling to Italy in a week, how much will it cost me to tx people in the uk? How much will it be for me to use data also? Is it a daily charge or dependant on how much data I use?

Hi.

First enjoy your trip.

Their are various options.

One is to unlock your handset to all networks now if it's not already so you can use a local SIM card while your there.

https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%...

Also try to use wifi when and where you can.

If your pay monthly look at o2's TuGo.

Tugo link http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C...

Theirs lots more info in Tugo on the O2 homepage.

Regarding if your wanting to use your O2 SIM card abroad then perhaps take a look at O2 Travel as one option.

O2 Travel Link http://www.o2.co.uk/international/o2-travel/pay-monthly

It's recommended you turn off O2 voicemail before you leave the Uk to help stop roaming charges as trying to turn this off whilst abroad is not apparently possible.

Here is the link to show costs to use your phone in Italy.

Contract or PAYG ?

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

If you are able to use wifi whilst in italy, it will be cheaper for you to use apps such as whatsapp, viber or BBM (if they are available on your phone).  These apps are free to use but the recipients must also have the apps on their phone.
