Unlocking iphone 5s

Anonymous
Not applicable
I wanna unlock my 5s cuz I am gonna work abroad soon.
I phoned them, twitted them and live chat with them. All of O2 staff said I can unlock it once I pay off my phone plan.
But on official website it says: except the 5c & 5S which can't be unlocked.
So my question is: who's information is correct? Can I unlock my 5s immediately if I pay my phone plan?

Cheers

It is my understanding that 5s and 5c cannot be unlocked as yet. However I am not an I phone user.

One of the I phone users will confirm shortly for you.

Hi

Only few people managed to get their 5s unlocked after paying off the phone, some others had no luck.

It's a 50/50 chance really.

If you can afford to pay off the phone, why didn't you get the sim free one from Apple?

My friend was told he will be able to unlock his 5s around March/April this year which sounds correct as there is normally a 6 months wait after iPhone launch to have it unlocked.

If you have the tweet as proof, go for it !!

Just because he has proof, does not mean the phone will get unlocked.

Yes it does - If O2 have tweeted (which they have in the past) saying they will unlock the 5s if you pay off your contract and the tweet is specifically addressed to you, then you have made a legal contract.....
