Unlocking iPhone 6

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi.
I bought iPhone 6 on ebay. Phone was previously supplied by O2 and is locked. I have try to unlock it but I couldn't.

I have phoned customer service and they told me to buy sim free card because I am not O2 customer. Top up to get 15 £ airbalance for fee. I have done it. Then I have try unlock device by O2 app and your online form.
And in the end I got an email:"I'm sorry, we have not been able to unlatch your device at this time.
The reason given is:

The mobile number provided has not been used with the handset IMEI
provided. The two will need to be associated before we can unlatch.

Thank you,

O2 Customer Service

Can someone help, please?

Hi @Anonymous

Have you followed the advice given in this thread?

https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-card/td-p/540294

Look at the info about PAYG phones Particularly this section

PAYG phones need to have been on the network for at least 12 months

There is a £15 unlocking fee on PAYG and the phone needs to be registered on the O2 network, so, if you have just purchased a phone off eBay for example, insert a PAYG SIM and top up £20. Make a few calls to register the phone and ensure you have at least £15 credit remaining then fill out the form as above https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

You need to get a PAYG sim on the Classic PAYG tariff.
Top up £20 and use the phone to make calls and send text messages. Make sure you have £15 of credit left on the phone when you submit the form.
The phone must be used so that the IMEI number registers on the network first.

You wont have to wait that long for an iPhone 6 if you follow the advice given about putting credit on the phone etc..
