Unlocking iPhone 5

Anonymous
Not applicable

Been looking on the internet on how to unlock the iPhone 5... Mostly curiosity.

And came across a few sites where they do a IMEI unlock.... I was wondering how they do it? Surely it must be illegal?

But to my main point (Last sentence), is this true?

OK.

Yes, Orange have better 3G cover here. I tested it it with a friend's phone that I took around with me together with my iPhone on our travels.

When does a PAYG "contract" end such that I can get unlocked?

As soon as O2 start unlocking the iP5 you can request the unlock.

Hi friend you only needed to post once:)

Unfortunately there's still no news on unlocking the iPhone 5 yet:( trust me there will be a lot of celebration when it becomes available:)
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

It is just crazy, the way O2 have been with the unlocking of I Phone 5, no matter what the user is still bound to the contract and O2 gets its money every month. Every other network unlock it either free of charge or for a small amount of around £15 - £25. One workaround is, when you first buy the phone from O2 on contract, insert another network sim instead of O2, it lock to that network then send them your proof of purchase so they can update there systems with the IMEI number, get that network to unlock your I phone.... simples

Well, I tried again to see what response I get and for the 3rd consecutive time I get the following

*************

Dear ...........

Thank you for your iPhone unlatching request.

I'm sorry, we have not been able to unlatch your iPhone at this time.

The reason given is: The phone resgistered to the IMEI is not an iPhone.

Thank you,

O2 Customer Service

Very wierd indeed as I have even phone Apple up and they confirm that the IMEI that is showing on my actual iPhone 5 is, guess what, an iPhone 5 Smiley Frustrated
