I had a iphone 4 replaced by apple while still under contract with o2 and when I filled in the unlock form I was emailed to say I would need to complete through support.
Having used online help 1st was told the unlock would be 24hours still not done a week later.
I contacted online help again only to be told apple would unlock as o2 didn't have the imei number as apple supplied the phone. Apple have informed me o2 are the only ones who can unlock the phone and they have done so with other replacement phones through them many times.
I do not want to call o2 support on the phone to sort this out as I have a very bad speech stoppage and frankly it would be very frustrating for both parties even if they were more aware of the process than online help, is there a way this can be sorted. I still have an other phone under contract with o2 as I have been with them for years I would have hoped this could have been sorted without much fuss.

Hi,
As MI5 says have you used the phone on the o2 network.
Chargeable calls need to be made to latch the imei number of the iphone to your number.
Then again fill out the unlock form.
Other forms of contact with o2 are e mail ; https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help

The phone was used for over a year and a half on the o2 network and I have already filled out the unlock form, I got an email from o2 saying that the unlock was not sucessful as the phones imei number did not match o2 records (replaced by apple so wouldnt) and I needed to use online help as my request was processed this way (although it wasnt).
So yes and already done the online request more than once also still have a current o2 contract as I said I have been with them for years as a pay monthly customer.

Having an iPhone replaced shouldn't affect the ability to unlock. My iPhone 4S was replaced during the second year of my contract under AppleCare and 3 managed to unlock it just fine when I requested the unlock later in my contract

Yea I know apple have told me it is no real issue and that all I need is assistance from someone from o2 with a basic knowledge in tech support, looks like online help may be a bit limited.
